Tom
Gibbons was a prominent
Norwood rover during
the first decade
of the twentieth
century. It is not
known exactly how
many games he played
for the club, but
records do show
that he began his
career in 1903 and
ended it in 1908.
During that time
he represented the
Redlegs in the winning
challenge finals
of 1904 (reviewed
here) and 1907,
both against Port
Adelaide. When Norwood
defeated Carlton
on the Adelaide
Oval in 1907 to
lift the championship
of Australia, Tom
Gibbons was one
of the best players
afield. He played
interstate football
for South Australia
3 times.
