Rodney Pope was
a very reliable
half back who played
over 300 games for
West Adelaide, Norwood
and South Australia.
Pope made his debut
for Westies as a
17 year old in 1962.
His straight ahead
style made him an
immediate regular
and in 1964 he won
West's best and
fairest, a feat
repeated in 1968.
From 1969 to 1973,
Pope was a regular
State player, but
searching for premiership
success, he moved
to Norwood in 1974.
He picked up a best
and fairest for
the Redlegs in 1976
as well as being
a premiership player
in 1975.
