Norwood Welcomes Two Sydney Siders to the Club

Norwood is pleased to announce the signings of two former swans for season 2008. It has been a poorly kept secret that Stephen Doyle has committed to Norwood. His signing today confirms his long term committment to the Football club. We believe that Stephen has the capacity to become the premier ruckman in the SANFL and will bring to the club significant AFL experience. He will not only give our midfielders excellent service on the field, he will also play a role in ruck and midfield strategy. Stephen believes that season 2008 is an exciting prospect and his desire to play for the Redlegs was evident from the moment negotiations began. Norwood beat North Adelaide and of course his previous club South Adelaide for the signature and we are obviously delighted to welcome the big man to Coopers Stadium.

Former team mate Matt Davis has also signed with the club today. Davis is a 21 year old, 189 cm, 85 kg wingman, half back or leading forward. Former mentor, Brett Alison was very enthusiastic about the potential for Matt to play very good SANFL football. Matt was drafted to the Swans in 2003 and hailed from the North Adelaide junior system. He sees the Redlegs as providing a positive training and playing environment and believes that this is an excellent time to get on board the "sleeping giant" of SANFL football.

The club has also signed Joel Coombes from Box Hill. Joel is currently training with Hawthorn with some hope of being picked up in the rookie draft. He spent the first two weeks training with the legs and will return to Adelaide next week if unsuccessful next Tuesday.

These three recruits join Nick Gieschan and we continue to pursue other SANFL, VFL and delisted AFL players in the hope of being able to announce more signings before Christmas.

In other developments, Mitch Sandery has signed with South Adelaide as he pursues more league opportunities and Tim Nicholas and Luke Crouch are pursuing football in amateur and country leagues.

I look forward to welcoming and handing over to Mark Ross during the week beginning 17 December.
