More Signings and a Sign Off

The club is thrilled to announce some more significant signings for season 2008. For most of the year we have been pursuing Simon Phillips from the Sydney Swans. After many rounds of negotiation, Simon has agreed to sign with the Redlegs. Simon is the speedy goal kicking midfielder that the club has been yearning for. We believe that he will be able to provide us with prolific ball winning attributes as well as convert chances up forward. Simon played 5 senior AFL games whilst as Sydney

and completes a hat trick of Swans to come to the Parade. He brings to the side electrifying speed, an ability to create something out of nothing. He is a 174cm, 72kg dynamo whose goal is to get re drafted in 08. He sees the SANFL and Norwood in particular as providing an ideal environment to show case his skills.
The club also welcomes

ZiggyAlwyn from Noble Parin the EFL. Ziggy is a 19 y.o. tall running defender who played for Victoria at U/18 level. We believe that he is a league footballer who has the potential to be a solid SANFL player. He is athletic and physically mature. He came third in Noble Park's B&F in 2007, a team that had a large smattering of former AFL players. He is unknown to most SANFL people but don't be surprised if he makes some impact on the competition in 2008.

We have also signed Mal Douglas from Wagga on the recommendation of those responsible for getting Bryce Campbell to the club. Mal is only 18 and will look to develop in 2008. No great expectations in 08 but potentially a very good player.
The recruiting drive is almost over, however we are still hoping to announce one more significant signing over the next week.

I would like to take the opportunity to also welcome Taylor Walker and Aaron Kite to Norwood. Both are young men at the embryonic stages of AFL careers. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship between them and the NFC.

As this is my final blog I would like to take the opportunity to wish all members and supporters a happy Christmas and New Year season. I believe that we have assembled some good recruits and that we can all look forward to an exciting 2008. The club has recruited an excellent Football Operations manager in Mark Ross and I wish him every success in the role.
