With the movement
of Brett Hand to
St Marys, Scott
Bassett overseas
and Mick Weatherald
the club is moving
to appoint a number
of new people on
our coaching panel.
We have appointed
Trevor Potts as
an assistant coach.
Trevor has an imposing
coaching record
having taken teams
to 17 Grand Finals.
His most recent
grand final was
this year's reserves
match with his South
side falling short
against Glenelg.
Trevor is a level
3 coach, a former
principle of Brighton
High School and
will bring to the
club an enourmous
knowledge base.
Also appointed as
an assistant coach
for 2008 is former
Magarey Medallist
Brodie Atkinson.
Brodie has coached
Portland in the
Western Border League,
Sturt Reserves and
League (in a caretaker
role) and was an
assistant at West
Adelaide in 2007.
He will bring to
the panel a contemporary
football experience
and we look forward
to a beneficial
association with
Brodie.
The club will be
looking to make
further announcements
on coaching in the
coming weeks.
On the recruiting
front, I can assure
members that we
are speaking to
as many potential
players as possible.
With most AFL draftees
looking to renominate
it will most likely
be post November
24 before significant
signings can be
announced.
