in the AFL. Michael
Taylor was a pioneer
back in the early
1980's, Craig Kelly
and Tony Francis
played in Collingwoods
breakthrough 1990
premiership and
have been followed
by dual Crows premiership
players Brett James,
Matthew Robran and
David Pittman, through
to our most recent
draftees Adam Cockshell
and Gavin Hughes.

Nathan Bassett
(Adelaide)
Rookie listed by
Melbourne in 1997
Nathan returned
to Adelaide and
made his AFL debut
in 1998. Career
games 170 as at
end of 2006. Nathan
is a key member
of Adelaide much
respected and powerful
defensive until
and is the elder
brother of current
Norwood player /
coach Scott who
has also played
at AFL level.
Bryce Campbell
(Adelaide)
Recruited by Adelaide
with pick number
78 in the 2006 National
Draft. Shoulder
sugery at the end
of season 2006 followed
by an ankle ligament
injury during February
2007 has restricted
Bryce in 2007, currently
returning to fitness
and form with Norwood.
Darren Pfeiffer
(Adelaide)
Yet to play an AFL
game Darren was
recruited by Adelaide
in the 2005 National
Draft. After a lay-off
due to an unfortunate
off-field incident
Darren returned
to the senior Norwood
side for the round
4 clash with sturt
at Unley being named
in the teams best
players.
Kris Massie
(Adelaide)
Kris came to Norwood
courtesy of the
SANFL internal draft
for season 2002
after being drafted
to Adelaide from
Carlton. In his
rare appearances
in recent years
for the Redlegs
Kris has been a
major contributor.
Kris is recovering
from a wrist injury
and is yet to play
a home and away
game in 2007.
John Meesen
(Adelaide)
John came to Norwood
courtesy of the
SANFL internal draft
for season 2005
and has been a regular
in Norwoods lineup
for the past 2 years.
Suffering a knee
injury, ironically
playing for Norwood
against Adelaide
in a pre-season
game John is still
some weeks away
from returning to
the playing field.
Joel Patfull
(Brisbane)
Rookie listed by
Port Power in 2003
and 2004 Joel was
drafted to brisbane
with pick number
56 in the 2005 National
Draft. Made his
AFL debut against
Port Adelaide in
round 8 2005 at
AAMI Stadium kicking
a goal with his
first kick in AFL
football. Joels
elder brother Todd
also played for
Norwood.
Scott Burns
(Collingwood)
Recruited with draft
pick 90 in the 1992
national draft Scott
made his afl debut
in 1995, winning
the clubs best first
year player award.
Now a veteran of
217 games (end 2006)
Scott is one of
the most respected
players in the AFL.
Tom Harley (Geelong)
Part of Norwoods
1998 reserves premiership
winning team Tom
was initially drafted
by Port adfelaide
in its inaugrual
AFL squad for season
1997 Tom ws Traded
to Geelong for seelction
37 in the 1998 National
Draft. Tom has now
ammassed 142 AFL
games and was appointed
Captain of Geelong
for season 2007.
Currently recovering
from a hand injury
Tom is expected
to return to the
playing field within
the next few weeks.
Ed Lower (Kangaroos)
Twin brother of
Power listed Brother
Nick, Ed was rookie
listed by the Kangaroos
for season 2006
then elevated to
the senior listed
playing 4 games
in season 2006.
Yet to paly a senior
agme in 2007 ed
is playing with
North Ballaratt
in the VFL.
Adam Cockshell
(Port Adelaide)
After an impressive
debut season with
Norwood in 2006
Adam was drafted
with selection 20
by Port Adelaide
in the 2007 AFL
pres-season draft.
A rapid rise saw
Adam make his AFL
debut in round1
against Fremantle
in Perth. After
a troublesome ankle
injury Adam returned
to Norwood for its
round 3 game against
South Adelaide at
Hickinbotham Oval.
Nick Lower (Port
Adelaide)
Drafted to Port
Adelaide with their
first pick (30 overall)
in the 2005 national
Draft Nick played
4 AFL games in 2006.
currently an important
part of Norwoods
defensive outfit.
Nicks twin brother
Ed is on the Kangaroos
senior list.
Hugh Minson
(Port Adelaide)
Drafted to Port
Adelaie with pick
58 in the 2005 National
Draft Hugh has yet
to make his AFL
debut. After some
impressive efforts
in the SANFL trial
games Hugh was seelcted
to make his league
debut in round 1
of against Port
Magpies at Coopers
Stadium. Hugh's
elder brother Will
is on Western Bulldogs
senior list.
Matthew Thomas
(Port Adelaide)
Matthew came to
Norwood courtesy
of the SANFL internal
draft for season
2006. With a degree
of professionalism
beyond his 19 years
it was no surprise
Matthew played the
last half of season
2006 with Port Adelaide.
After missing mcuh
of pre-season with
a serious illness
pre-season Matthew
is currently playing
senior football
with Norwood in
the SANFL.
David Rodan
(Port Adelaide)
Taken by Port Adelaide
with the very last
selection in the
2006 National Draft,
David came to Norwood
courtesy of the
SANFL internal draft
and has been a regular
selection in Port
Adelaides first
22 and has yet to
represent Norwood.
Cleve Hughes
(Richmond)
Drafted by Richmond
with pick 24 in
the 2005 National
Draft Cleve played
4 AFL games in season
2006. A key position
player and Under
18 All Australian,
Cleve commenced
season 2007 with
Coburg in the VFL
however earned a
recall to the senior
side for their round
5 clash with West
Coast and kicked
3 goals.
Jared Crouch
(Sydney)
After playing 194
consecutive games
from his debut in
1998, Jared finally
succumbed to shoulder
and ankle problems
playing just 12
games in 2006. Draft
pick number 8 in
the 1995 National
Draft Jared was
a member of Sydney's
2005 premiership
team and is the
older brother of
current Norwood
player Luke and
former player Adam.
Nicholas Fosdike
(Sydney)
A member of Norwoods
1998 reserves premiership
team Nick was drafted
by Sydney in the
1998 National draft
and has played 136
AFL games (end 2006)
and was amember
of Sydneys 2005
premiership team.
Nick is part of
the Fosdike family
Norwood tradition
with younger brother
Matthew currently
playing Reserves
football for Norwood.
Heath Grundy
(Sydney)
Initially rookie
listed for season
2005, Heath made
his AFL debut against
Richmond in round
16 2006 kicking
3 goals. Finishing
2006 with a total
of 3 games and is
currently in the
Swans first 22 in
2007.
Gavin Hughes
(Western Bulldogs)
Gavin was first
round (number 11
overall) selection
in the 2006 Rookie
Draft by the Western
Bulldogs. The lightning
fast wingman had
an impressive season
with Norwood in
2006, gaining senior
state seletion and
is currently playing
with Werribee in
the AFL.
Will Minson
(Western Bulldogs)
Taken with draft
pick 20 in the 2002
National Draft Will
has quickly established
himself in the Western
Bulldogs first 22.
