Dean Terlich
Dean, this is now your second year at the club since coming over from Osborne in NSW and the Sydney Swans.
First of all, how have you found the transition and how have you enjoyed yourself since being at the NFC?
The transition from Sydney to Adelaide was fairly easy. Coming back to a slower paced city suited me a lot better as I grew up in the country. I have enjoyed my time at NFC a lot and all the boys and coaches have been great and it didn’t take me long to feel welcome at all.
You were training with the Power before the National Draft, are you still aiming to re-enter the AFL system?
Definitely, it was my dream growing up and having a taste of it in 2008 just made me want it more.
How were the first six weeks of training before Christmas and what has the group been focusing on?
The first six weeks were really good. A lot of the boys came back in good shape. It was also good to get to know Nathan and his coaching techniques. The group has been focusing a lot on our ball movement into attack and our defensive pressure.
What players impressed you during the first part of pre-season training?
The regulars that always come back to training in good shape, Alex Stopp Simon Phillips and Ben Jeffries to name a few. Some others who are also pushing them are Paul Puopolo and Brad Thomas, and the big man Stephen Doyle is also moving well.
If you had to pick one, which player will make their debut this season?
A lot of the young boys are looking to be pushing for spots but I would have to say Brad Thomas.
What was your training regime during the break?
Our fitness coach Chad McLaren put together a program with a variety of shorter interval running and also some long distance running.
Where were you to bring in 2010?
At my brother’s house in Osborne with family and friends, having some quiet drinks and catching up with some mates.
What was your New Years resolution?
To play the whole season without injury.
Have you broken it yet?
So far, so good.
Finally, what nickname (if any) have you adopted since being at the Club?
Arnold, Mega-head, Terls, Teralick, Cranium, Deano to name a few.
