Match Preview: Norwood FC v Port Adelaide thanks to Paradise Motors Mazda.
The tradition continues this Thursday night as Norwood FC hosts Port Adelaide in Round 2 of the SANFL Maccas League.
While Norwood head into the match after a 22-point win against North Adelaide in Round 1, Port will be looking to register their first win of the year after going down to the Bays by 17 points.
Norwood FC Head Coach Jarrod Cotton said his team is excited at the prospect of kicking off the Easter weekend, against an old rival in the Port Magpies.
“The boys are really excited to get out there,” said Cotton.
“Anytime you get to play Port Adelaide at any stage of the season is a big game and the Norwood- Port tradition is quite big in South Australia.
“But a Thursday night game on the Easter Weekend doesn’t get much bigger than that, we are expecting a really big crowd with our supporters to be out in large numbers.
“So, it should be a really exciting game.”
Although the Redlegs took the points in Round 1 against North Adelaide, Cotton admitted that there are still areas which need to be improved on if Norwood is a serious chance of defeating a determined Port Adelaide outfit.
“We need to start being consistent with our tackling pressure for the whole game, I thought it was pretty good for most of it but the first quarter was a bit low,” Cotton mentioned.
“They move the footy really fast and they are very well disciplined with their structures, so it’s going to be a really good challenge for us.”
