Match Report The reserves men finished the season for 2014 in fourth position after defeating Port Adelaide by 15 points on Sunday. With 7 x under 18’s and 2 x under 19’s included for their last minor round clash, the reserves have had a very good season under first year coach Andrew Mcleod. Last year they missed the finals in the last game of the year, so to have all three grades playing finals, is a terrific effort by all involved.

After giving them a 6 goal to 1 goal start the reserves clawed their way back to be within 11 points at the long break. Tullio Dematteis, Matt Nunn and Peter Persinos were all instrumental in the turn around with their ability to run and carry the ball. Two players went down during the game, Pat Levicki, ill, and Josh Pitson going down in the third quarter, made the win even better without 2 key defenders.

The boys held off a fast finishing Port Adelaide to kick the last goal of the game and finish on a good note before having this week off as the league men play the Adelaide Crows.

 Match Report  -

This was our last minor round game and it was great to get a win against Port for the last time in Under 18 football. We played some aggressive, attacking football and kicked 6 goals in the first

quarter and it was really enjoyable watching the players use the ball with speed and accuracy. Port made it a man on man game after quarter time and both teams battled well but our men hung on to

get a 25 point win and make sure we got the double chance in the finals. Darcy Pisani played his first Under 18 game and he was excellent as an inside mid fielder. He played in Robbie Neill’s Under 16

team and then played State Under 16’s in July, he has also played for Rostrevor First 18 at College and this was our first chance to see him at Under 18 level. He is fiercely competitive and his

movement inside at stoppage was excellent. Cameron Tiggemann kicked another bag of 6 but our defenders were outstanding. Riley Sinnott and Ryan Llewelyn continued their good form and held up many Port forward thrusts.
we have the bye this week and it gives us a chance to work on Ben
Warren’s game plan and fine tune our kick in structures so that we are ready to represent Norwood in the finals.
