Match Report    If you were brave enough to face the cold and wet weather on Friday night I commend you for coming along and supporting the Norwood football club.

In very ordinary conditions with bouts of torrential rain throughout the evening, including the reserves, I was very pleased for the playing group to get the two points. You never know what can happen in those conditions with the main priority for both teams being contested ball and yardage. Disciplined football and making the most of our opportunities in front of goal were probably why we finished in front at the end of the night. We had 47 inside 50’s to 18 at the three quarter time showing how long the ball was camped between the 70m mark and our goal square for most of the night.

Brady Dawe and Sam Baulderstone were brilliant and Dylan Reinbrecht, Matt Panos and Ben Jefferies continued their good form for us too.  Kieran McGuinness continues to be our most reliable player and leads our team exceptionally well.

It was very pleasing to again see the reserves win again. They were outplayed 4 weeks ago against Centrals at Coopers Stadium in the catch up round but dominated from the start. They now sit in the 3rd place and have played some excellent team football the past month.

Craig Evans copped a nasty knock to his knee and looked even worse in slow motion. We are unsure of the diagnosis yet but we will find out in the middle of the week. Hopefully it isn’t too bad.

We have the split round bye next weekend and play Woodville/West Torrens the following weekend. I urge as many members and supporters to come along and help the players get a win in a battle for third spot.

We will most likely welcome back Dylan Auciello, Luke Thomas, Michael Ialeggio in the reserves with James Allan (hamstring) and Andrew Kirwan (flu) to come back into the league team for our round 13 clash at Maughan Thiem oval.

I would like to make one special mention to Mr and Mrs Dean Southwood for the donation of two more computers for the playing group. Dean has certainly helped us improve our facilities significantly over the past few years and it doesn’t go unnoticed by the football department and playing group. Thank you very much.

Match Report  A flurry of first quarter goals helped our reserves side beat the rain and Central Districts in our Round 12 clash at Coopers Stadium. A very disciplined Norwood reserves blew out to a 40 point lead in the last term but ended up being wound back to 22 points in cold and wet conditions.

The conditions suited Kane Murphy, Ed Smart and Matt Hallandal as they had a staggering 52 tackles between them. Kane was best a field again with Ed O’Connor having a good night on his left wing.

Mark Evans finished with 3 goals and Lochie Peter 2. “Bunji” was extremely happy with the application and attitude with the reserves now sitting in third spot after a slow start to the season.

A clash against ladder leaders, Woodville/West Torrens, after the split weekend bye, should be a very good clash with some key personnel again available for selection.

 Match Report
It was a windy day at Elizabeth oval but the oval was in magnificent condition after torrential rain over night. We started slowly and our kicking was inaccurate again in the first quarter and we did not use the strong wind well in the first quarter. It was a dour battle in the second and third quarters and we were 13 points behind at three quarter time and we were kicking into the wind in the last quarter. The boys felt confident that they could get back into the game and they kicked 3 goals to one to get back within 2 points, with 3 minutes to go. Centrals scored a behind and we had a chance to attack down the grandstand side but unfortunately a couple of the players did not follow the three quarter time instruction and they moved the ball out to the far side where Centrals were able to keep the ball wide and defend and we ended up losing by 5 points. It will be a good lesson for some of the players, there were a few who could not remember what we needed to do and hopefully this game will give us a good chance to review these errors and make sure that during the finals we are able to follow instructions for longer and be able to win these close games.Pierce Seymour was our best player. He is a great story, he did not do any of the development squads at Norwood and as an Under 18 player last year he played ‘A’ grade for Garry MacIntosh at Payneham Norwood Union Football Club as Macca’s ruckman. Macca sent him out and he has had a great season so far, playing as a ruck/forward at 190cm. He is a left footer and he is a good mark and his ruck work has been really handy for us this year. He has played with a sore knee and I am sure he has done enough this year to be offered a senior preseason next year and I hope he can keep improving his forward play so that he is a chance to play senior football
for us in the future.  Brayden Denmead was really good again in the ruck, Tom Nunn gave us good ground attack from defence,Riley Sinnott was good after coming back from the Reserves and Jake Pitman and Aaron Stewart were solid on ball.We have the week off and it will give the players a chance to get over any niggles and hopefully start to play some aggressive football leading into the finals
